ABOUT KATE SMITH

Kate began practicing Yoga almost 20 years ago within the Kingston community. Doing many different styles of yoga including, Bikram, Ashtanga, Yin, she found her love of Vinyasa. Kate has always enjoyed movement and the outdoors as a long-time runner, cyclist, swimmer and group fitness instructor. Of course, that's when she doesn't have her head buried in "books": She is a fulltime accountant/bookkeeper. Yoga has always benefited both parts of her life- career and hobbies. Moving from teaching group fitness to yoga has always been part of her long-term plan and it's time!! She is thankful and excited to get to the MAT and share Yoga with anyone who will let her.

ABOUT LUCIE CROSS

Hello, my name is Lucie Cross. I love yoga! I have over 20 years of teaching experience and ran my own yoga business until my three children came into my life. My yoga journey started early, at age 3 in the 70's as I watched a yoga program  and followed it every week! My practice was such a gift to me and helped in so many ways. Later in late teenage years, I dove deeper into the practice and meditation regularly to help with stress and migraines which went away and helped balance things out. Now a home practice and walking or biking in nature with my dog (and cat!) is another love.

Yoga meaning (" to Yoke") is such rich and full journey. Like life and like our whole selves (body, mind and spirit), it's ever changing, evolving, has it's bumps and joys we cherish and learn from.

The yoga guidance I present is based on mindful moving. It starts with centering, breath, warm up, moving into full flow with a beautiful time to rest, reflect and let go at the end.  Optimal and full breath guides us into and through poses. I am mindful of participants correct alignment to enhance blood and energy flow and reduce risk of injury as well as building long and strong muscles. Everyone's practice is their very own. We learn to listen to our bodies and minds, and if we need to stay longer in a pose, go deeper, or back off, I greatly encourage this. No rush.

I'm looking forward to practicing with you! 🌞

Testimonials

"Thank you! A few weeks ago I did a 7 day backpacking trip that was really hard. 8 to 10 hrs a day with very heavy pack. Lots of elevation change. I realized, from your classes, about protecting my lower back more, keeping it from curving,  using my core more and had NO back issues.  A first."

Tracey

"I have had the pleasure of attending Amanda's Yoga classes for almost a year. Amanda's gentle approach to her practice has inspired me to continue with my own  practice. She gives caring attention on an individual basis when needed. I often apply what I learn from Amanda to my daily life. It helps me to manage stress and have a better feeling of overall wellness. Her classes are scheduled at times and locations that try to accommodate her clients. She kindly offers make up session  for classes that I miss. I always get good value for my money. The added bonus to  Amanda's classes is that it brings people together where new friendships can develop."
